Bad Uncle

About Us

Bad Uncle are a six piece rock covers band playing all of your favourite tunes spanning four decades.

With dual guitars and two keyboardists, we have the versatility to accurately recreate the songs you all know and love.

Our three part vocal harmonies take the audience back to the hits of the 80s... Even the spandex sometimes makes an appearance!

Add to this a solid rhythm section, with the added bonus of a drummer who looks like Plant and plays like Bonham.

A Bad Uncle gig is guaranteed to bring the fun, so come along and immerse yourself in the sounds of the last 40 years.

Vern

Lead Guitar/Backing Vocals

Vern brought Bad Uncle to life in 2018, reinventing his previous band Mad Uncle after taking a few years away from gigging. A seasoned local musician, Vern has been playing in bands since the age of 17 and boasts an impressive guitar collection — though his wardrobe choices are perhaps even more legendary (who's seen his rainbow leopard print cycling shorts?!). With his undeniable stage presence and pure rock ’n’ roll energy, Vern is the heart and soul of Bad Uncle, keeping the band loud, lively, and full of attitude.

Meg

Lead Vocals

Meg joined Bad Uncle right from the very beginning in 2018, when her dad, Vern (see above), asked her to take on lead vocals. Having spent a few years performing as part of an acoustic duo with her sister, she was ready and excited to embrace a new challenge with the full band. Since then, Meg has become a key part of Bad Uncle’s sound, bringing both power and emotion to every performance. She’s also lent her voice to several other projects over the years — singing with local cover bands, providing backing vocals for a Pink Floyd tribute act, and featuring on a number of original recordings.

Kev

Lead Vocals/Keyboards

Kev has been a familiar face on the local music scene for many years, playing in a variety of bands and keeping the spirit of live music alive. He and Vern even go way back — all the way to the late ’80s and early ’90s — when Kev looked like a long-lost member of The Cure and Vern still had hair! A huge fan of Radiohead, The Cure, and Depeche Mode, Kev has taken on quite the challenge with Bad Uncle, but he tackles those ’80s ballads with style and nails them every time.

Jason

Lead Guitar\Keyboards

Jason has been an integral part of the Yeovil music scene since the late ’90s, performing with numerous local bands and continually refining his craft. Known as the perfectionist of the group, he’s the one who’ll spend hours fine-tuning keyboard patches and chasing the perfect guitar tone until everything sounds just right. When he’s not with Bad Uncle, you’ll find him channelling his inner Gilmour as the lead guitarist in a Pink Floyd tribute band — a role that perfectly showcases his attention to detail and love of great sound.

Nick

Drums

Nick joined Bad Uncle in 2024 and quickly made his mark behind the kit. He might look like Robert Plant, but he plays like John Bonham — thunderous, powerful, and full of flair. Chaotic yet completely loveable, Nick brings huge energy and personality to every show. A brilliant drummer with serious groove, he might drop his sticks more often than he’d like to admit, but somehow, he always makes it part of the performance!

Ian

Bass Guitar

Ian (Tuffy) was one of the founding members of Bad Uncle and has been making music with Vern and Kev since his teenage years. Though a guitarist at heart, he stepped up to take on bass duties for the band — and absolutely nailed it. An awesome player with great energy (and an equally great love of beer), Tuffy keeps the rhythm tight and the laughs coming. He’s the life and soul of the band, both on and off stage!
